Sergio Gomez has labelled fellow Manchester City teammate Rodri as the best player in the world right now.
The Manchester club recently picked up their fifth major title of the calendar year as they beat Fluminense 4-0 in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup last night.
This then led to one City player taking to social media to share a message about one of his teammates.
Gomez labels Rodri as the best in the world

In a recent Twitter post, which contained an image of him and Rodri with the five trophies City won in 2023, Gomez wrote in his caption that the midfielder is “the best player in the world.”
City signed Rodri back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £62m.
Since then, the midfielder has gone on to make 229 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions, scoring 21 goals, delivering 22 assists and winning numerous titles along the way.
In terms of individual accolades, Rodri was named as the player of the tournament for the previous Champions League campaign and was more recently named as the best player in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
As well as that, the Spain international came fifth in the previous Ballon d’Or rankings behind Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne.
With all of that in mind, there’s no denying that Rodri is one of, if not the, best midfielder in the world right now and is undoubtedly a key figure for City and someone who has played a key role in their successful 2023.
Moving forward, with the Blues on the hunt to regain the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League titles, we feel that if they end up winning those trophies, Rodri will once again play a big part in it.
