Alan Shearer has said that Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is on a different planet to any other player.
The 32-year-old recently assisted four of the five goals Erling Haaland scored during City’s 6-2 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup.
Off the back of this midweek victory, the Belgian has found himself being the topic of conversation, with one big-name pundit and former top-flight player sharing some big praise for him.
Shearer amazed by ‘brilliant’ De Bruyne

Speaking in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Shearer had this to say about De Bruyne and his efforts against Luton.
He said: “De Bruyne is on a different planet, he’s just outrageously good. For a forward, we’ve said it, you know when he gets it you move, you’re off, he’s going to find you.
“The tap-in the other night, when he gave him the tap-in, so many other people would have chosen to have a shot there and score themselves but he just said ‘Here you go, have another one, put it on a plate for you,’ just brilliant.”
Since joining the Citizens back in 2015 from Wolfsburg in a deal worth £55m, De Bruyne has scored 98 goals and delivered 165 assists in 368 appearances across all competitions.
His impressive efforts at Kenilworth Road earned him a solid match rating of 8.7/10 from SofaScore, making him the second-highest-rated player on the day behind Haaland.
Having supplied 31 assists in 49 appearances during City’s Treble-winning campaign last season and then going on to come fourth in the latest Ballon d’Or rankings behind Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, it’s easy to see why Shearer thinks so highly of De Bruyne.
Bearing in mind how effective the midfielder is in terms of delivering goal contributions, we feel that he could have a big say in whether or not City regain the three titles he helped them win last season.
