Pundit Karen Carney has praised Manchester City for their signing of Josko Gvardiol.
Last month, the Citizens made their defender their second signing of the recent summer transfer window by sealing a deal worth £77m for the Croatian from RB Leipzig.
With the summer transfer window now closed, one pundit has picked out this particular deal as one bit of transfer business they are particularly excited by.
Carney praises Gvardiol transfer move

Speaking on the latest edition of Team Talks by Premier League Productions (via Optus Sport), Carney had this to say about Gvardiol and his move to City.
She said: “Gvardiol, I really like him though, I know you mentioned [Declan] Rice and [Moises] Caicedo but I love Gvardiol defensively, absolutely brilliant.
“City have massively evolved, Pep Guardiola ahead of the curve as we all know goes ‘I’m going to play last season, this season with four centre-backs and they’re all versatile, they can dip into midfield.’
“So I think he suits that bill, left-sided defensive player who can go into midfield at times, he can offer cover, he’s got World Cup experience I think it’s been a really good signing for them.”

During his time at Leipzig, Gvardiol made 87 appearances in total across all competitions, chipping in with three assists and five goals, one of which came in the German club’s 1-1 draw against City in last season’s Champions League knockout match.
Having completed the full 90 minutes in both of City’s previous Premier League games against Newcastle United and Sheffield United, prior to today’s match against Fulham, this shows that the summer recruit has already found his place in Guardiola’s side.
Bearing in mind how the centre-back has gathered a big reputation for himself following his impressive efforts in the previous World Cup, as Carney mentioned, it’s no surprise that the 21-year-old ended up being one of the most expensive signings in the Premier League this summer.
Having started to find his feet at City, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares over the entirety of the season and if he can prove he worth such a hefty price tag.
