Manchester City fans can’t wait for the summer when the rebuild of the team can continue – and Bruno Guimaraes is a player who is becoming very hard to ignore.
It has been a very turbulent season for the Premier League champions, who are looking to finish the 2024/25 campaign strongly.
The goal is to secure Champions League football, with all hope of the title having been gone for a while now.
Given how poorly the season was going, Manchester City did something pretty rare in January by signing four new players.
Historically, the club have tended not to do any business at all mid-season. But this time around, the situation has been much different, and City simply had to act.
Essentially, plans to rebuild were brought forward, and that rebuild will continue later this year – and Newcastle United maestro Bruno Guimaraes will surely be linked once again.
Newcastle were expecting a big from City in January for Guimaraes, but ultimately nothing materialised.
But just recently, the Brazilian has offered three more reasons to Pep Guardiola why he should be signed in the summer.
The stats that show Man City target Bruno Guimaraes is a complete midfielder

Bruno Guimaraes has been one of the Premier League’s best midfielders for a couple of years now.
He was one the of the first signings made by Newcastle after their takeover by PIF in October 2021 – and he has been a roaring success.
Guimaraes has already clocked up 142 appearances, scoring 19 goals and making 24 assists.
He has also often sported the captain’s armband for the Magpies, indicating he is a leader in their dressing room.
There are a host of reasons why City should be all over Guimaraes this summer – but three more have now emerged.
As per Squawka, no player in Europe’s top five leagues has won more ground duels (170), won more fouls (89) or completed more through-balls (11) than Guimaraes this season.
To be leading not one, not two, but three statistical categories for all players across Europe’s top five league’s is some going, and surely make him impossible for Guardiola to ignore this summer.

Man City know how much Bruno Guimares transfer will cost this summer
So at this point, there are hardly any reasons to suggest Guimaraes isn’t a player City should be signing.
Those statistics just show how good and versatile he is. He is a complete midfielder, capable of performing a variety of specific roles to a high standard.
He’s been in the Premier League for few years now and knows what it’s all about, and the fact he’s captained Newcastle plenty of times is a bonus.
It was recently reported that Guimaraes actually has a pact with Newcastle to leave this summer.
TEAMtalk claimed Newcastle would be willing to let Guimaraes leave for £85 million, and their report stated that City are still keen admirers despite signing Nico Gonzalez in January.
Furthermore, Guimaraes has stated Guardiola has told him he likes his style, saying: “I know that Guardiola likes my football, it is normal to have great coaches who admire your football. We have spoken once, I praised his work, he praised my work, but it was nothing more than that.”
