Phil Foden has shared how much he is enjoying playing alongside Manchester City teammate Julian Alvarez.
The two players are currently in the middle of their second season together at the Manchester club, after Alvarez arrived from River Plate back in 2022, a few months after the Citizens struck a deal worth £14m to sign him.
Having won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League together last season, the pair, and the other players in Pep Guardiola’s ranks, are now on the hunt to lift those titles once again this time around.
At the midway stage of the campaign, one half of the duo has been sharing his thoughts on this particular connection that has blossomed over the past few months.
Foden buzzing with Alvarez connection

Speaking in a recent interview with the club, Foden had this to say about Alvarez.
He said: “Me and Julian get on really well. We’ve built a good connection; we’re scoring a lot of goals and assisting each other at the same time. We’re playing with a smile on our face and just enjoying our football.”
The duo have featured in 25 games together in all competitions this season prior to City’s away clash against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Across those 25 matches, the pair have managed to rack up five joint goal participations between them, three of which have come in City’s four previous matches.
This highlights the connection that Foden mentioned has been built between the two players and how it’s benefitting the team, especially in front of goal.
Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, if Foden and Alvarez can continue playing well together and keep delivering goals and assists, this could be a big factor in potentially seeing the Manchester club regain the three trophies they won last year.
