Burnley chairman Alan Pace has shared his thoughts on current Clarets manager Vincent Kompany amid recent mentions of him becoming the new manager of Manchester City in the future.
The former City defender, who Pep Guardiola has previously claimed is destined to manage the Manchester club at some point in his career, has won the Championship with Burnley in his first season in charge.
This has since led to him putting pen to paper on a new five-year deal at the Lancashire club as they prepare to make their return to the Premier League.
Prior to this, the Belgian had found himself being linked with managerial jobs elsewhere such as the Tottenham Hotspur position.
Pace discusses Kompany future

Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Pace said this about Kompany and reports linking him away from Turf Moor.
He said: “It’s all the time. It’s not a worry for me that I’m going to ever fire him, because that’s a different story.
“My worry is, as I’ve tried to explain to him, is it’s like dating the most beautiful girl in town, and knowing there’s probably no chance she’ll ever marry you.
“But, everybody else wants to marry her. So it’s like, how long can you date, how long can you stay together, how long can you stay a couple? I hope it’s for a very, very, very long time. But it’s up to ‘her’.”
Across the 46 Championship games he has taken charge of with Burnley this season, Kompany has seen his side win 29, draw 14 and lose just three, scoring 87 goals and conceding just 35 along the way, giving them the best attacking and defensive records in the division.
Having taken the Championship by storm, it’ll be interesting to see how the former City captain fares guiding his side in the top flight next season and if a pathway for him to potentially replace Guardiola in the future opens up.
