Kyle Walker has highlighted what summer signing Mateo Kovacic will be able to offer Manchester City.

The right-back recently put pen to paper on a contract extension at the Manchester club, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2026.

Then announcement was then followed by an interview the defender had with the club’s media where he spoke about a range of subjects, including City’s transfer business throughout the recent summer window.

On the topic of Kovacic, who joined the Citizens from Chelsea back in June in a deal worth a reported overall fee of £30m, Walker had this to say about the midfielder.

He said: “He’s won four Champions Leagues. What more do I say? He’s not inexperienced, he’s been in these high-pressure games before.

“So I feel that he can add something where he’s won it and won it again. So, we haven’t done that, so he can bring his experience to that front.”

Having made 330 combined appearances for Real Madrid and Chelsea, winning numerous trophies, including the Champions League on separate occasions, as Walker mentioned, this showcases the top-level experience that the Croatian will be able to offer Pep Guardiola’s side.

So far this season, the 29-year-old has featured in all of City’s six games across all competitions, starting five of them.

Even though the midfielder has yet to score a goal or provide an assist for his new side, the fact that he has been so prominent in the team shows how much of an important figure he already is for the treble winners.

Moving forward, if Kovacic can go on to help City regain the Champions League this season, using the experience Walker spoke about to do so, then this will undoubtedly be seen as being a very successful debut season for the midfielder.
