‘Can definitely do that’: Pundit reckons Guardiola will be relying on 27-year-old Man City star vs Arsenal

Nedum Onuoha has claimed that Manchester City winger Jack Grealish is well-suited to start against Arsenal.

After losing their first Premier League game of the season last weekend away at Wolves, the Citizens find themselves on the road again with a big showdown against Arsenal at the Emirates.

In terms of which players Pep Guardiola could pick to be in his starting XI, one pundit and former City player has pleaded his case for one particular figure to start on Sunday.

Onuoha says Grealish will suit Arsenal occasion

Speaking in a recent video published on the ESPN FC YouTube channel, Onuoha had this to say about Grealish and whether or not he could be in the starting XI to take on Arsenal.

He said: “As far as Guardiola thinks himself, he can rely on players, he can trust those players because he knows they’ve done it before.

“There’s a reason why he picks a certain team for certain games and it tends to be the ones with the most experience who need to be able to manage that sort of environment and play a style of football which maybe we don’t understand from the outside but he knows is required to winning those places.

“I think Grealish can definitely do that because I think his skillset definitely suits those occasions.”

Last season saw the 27-year-old start both of City’s league games against Arsenal, the first of which saw him score at the Emirates in the Manchester club’s 3-1 victory.

Having then gone on to play the full 90 minutes in City’s Champions League games against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, this further proves Onuoha’s point about Grealish having the skillset to deal with big occasions.

With that in mind, it may not be a surprise to see the Englishman in the starting XI on Sunday afternoon. However, with Jeremy Doku scoring in midweek against RB Leipzig, he could well be in Guardiola’s thoughts and put Grealish’s place in the team at risk, especially since he has failed to find the back of the net so far in this campaign.
