Alan Shearer has been blown away by one statistic he’s heard about Manchester City following their recent win over Burnley.

Wednesday night saw the Manchester club secure a 3-1 victory over Burnley in their latest Premier League match thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez and Rodri.

This latest win for the Citizens led to one significant statistic being shared, which one pundit and former top-flight star couldn’t believe.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Shearer had this to say after Gary Lineker revealed that City have scored 46 goals and conceded two in their 13 previous games against Burnley.

He said: “Can you believe that? It’s incredible, isn’t it?”

Looking back over this latest victory against the Clarets, Pep Guardiola’s side had 74% possession and 14 shots at goal compared to Burnley’s 26% and eight attempts at goal.

This shows how much the home side deserved to win on Wednesday and how dominant they were on the ball, despite not having too many goalscoring opportunities.

With this victory adding to the long list of wins the Citizens have picked up against the Clarets, it’s clear that they have had very little trouble in terms of picking up points when facing off against Burnley.

As things stand, Vincent Kompany’s side are currently in the relegation zone of the Premier League table, which means that unless they’re able to pick up enough points before the end of the season, they may not get the chance to play against City or any other top-flight side in the next campaign.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the current Premier League season, City will have to make sure they win as many games as they can if they want to overtake Liverpool at the top of the table and regain the title.
