Carlos Tevez has now shared his thoughts on Claudio Echeverri as the River Plate wonderkid prepares to join Manchester City.
The 39-year-old made the comments when speaking to TyC Sports.
So, what did Carlos Tevez say about Claudio Echeverri? Let’s take a look…
Tevez praises Echeverri
Well, the Argentina U17 international is the talk of South America right now as Manchester City agree a £26m package with River Plate for his signature – all that awaits is an official announcement, it seems.
Echeverri has already been compared to Diego Maradona, and now, Tevez has praised the 18-year-old further.
The man who made 148 appearances for Manchester City said: “He seems – to me – to be a very interesting player, who is not seen today. I was very surprised by the personality he has.
“I see a great future. Let’s get used to the fact that when a gem comes out like that we are going to enjoy it.”

Echeverri put his name up in lights with a stunning hat trick against Brazil at the U17 World Cup, which seemingly prompted Manchester City to pay a significant fee for his services.
Manchester City fans must wait to see Echeverri
As exciting as this deal is, Manchester City fans will have to be patient.
Enzo Francescoli – Director of Football at River Plate – confirmed the agreement earlier this week, but revealed that the Argentinian giants will take Echeverri back on loan for a year.
The 62-year-old told ESPN: “River have the condition of at least having him play for a year. Things have been done well, with the will of the boy, his representative and City, who could have waited six months to take him.”

Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola already has a wealth of attacking talent at the Etihad Stadium, so it is for the best that Echeverri continues his development away from Manchester City, at a club where he will play regular football.
In our view, Manchester City fans will look back at this £26m agreement as a bargain – in the modern era, the South American wonderkid only needs to bank one standout season in England before people describe him as a £100m talent.
