Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall has spoken about his experience of playing at the Etihad Stadium, admitting ‘I have never had so much stick in my life’ from Manchester City fans.

The 18-year-old has started to see minutes with the Blues first-team this season, after making his debut in January 2022.

So far his term he’s made eight appearances for Chelsea, and has twice face Manchester City.

He started the Carabao Cup game between the two clubs back in November, and then the FA Cup clash in January.

Both games were at the Etihad, with City coming out on top both times.

Hall has been speaking to the official Chelsea website about his experience of playing at the Etihad. And he has told of the hostility he faced.

He said: “Away from home is tricky. When we played City at the Etihad, the Chelsea fans were making a lot of noise but because they’re so high up it’s difficult to hear them, especially when there’s a full stadium of City fans cheering.

“That was my second game and I remember going to take a corner and I have never had so much stick in my life, so many people shouting at me, and it just shows you what the top players deal with. It’s a good experience to get.”

Man City fans are just doing their job unsettling opposition players

It is interesting to hear this from Hall about City fans at the Etihad Stadium.

It is all part and parcel of football for home fans to give stick to opposition players.

If there is one other way for fans to help the team aside from cheering for their own, it’s unsettling the opposition.

It is good to see Hall reflecting on his experience at the Etihad positively. He responds quite maturely considering he is a young player.

Hopefully, City fans will be in full voice again tonight as Real Madrid come to town.

That said, Real’s stars are pretty unlikely to be affected by any crowd hostility.
