Manchester City saw numerous players leave the club during the previous summer transfer window.
For example, names such as Julian Alvarez, Joao Cancelo, Sergio Gomez, Liam Delap and Micah Hamilton were sold to a range of clubs on permanent deals.
Whereas others such as Kalvin Phillips, Maximo Perrone and Issa Kabore were loaned out to other sides for the season.
Now that the window has been closed for a couple of weeks, a key figure at one club has now shared that he was looking to land a transfer deal for another player currently in City’s ranks, only for Pep Guardiola to scupper his chances of doing so.

Leeds United’s chief executive says he was looking to sign a Man City player in the summer
In a recent interview with Leeds Live, Angus Kinnear, the chief executive of Leeds United, had this to say when asked about the players he was looking to sign over the summer but missed out on.
He said: “Two of the other players, looking at the level we were looking at, [James] McAtee at Man City, there was talk he might be released all the way through the window and then Pep decided to keep him.
“And then [Fabio] Carvalho, who, again, might have been able to go out on another loan. It might have been a Championship loan or a Premier League loan.
“We thought we were first in the queue if it was going to be in the Premier League and he ended up being sold for £27m to Brentford.”
Guardiola has belief in McAtee
After spending the previous two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, the midfielder has been part of City’s senior ranks this season after Guardiola said back in July that he wants McAtee in his squad for this campaign.
Despite only playing one minute of action in the Premier League so far this season, it’s clear that Guardiola has the belief in McAtee, who Ben Foster dubbed a “fantastic” player previously, that he can be a useful player for City throughout their busy season.
