Chris Sutton has now predicted Man City to pick up an eye-catching scoreline against Wolves

Manchester City are back on the road this weekend as they resume their latest Premier League campaign.

Prior to the recent international break, City secured a 3-2 win over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.

With seven games played, Pep Guardiola’s side have won five and drawn twice, leaving them in second place just one point behind Liverpool.

On Sunday afternoon, City will be facing off against Wolves at Molineux, which is where the Blues picked up one of their three league defeats last season.

Looking ahead to this latest match where the champions will be aiming to keep their unbeaten streak going, one pundit has claimed that City could walk away from the Midlands with a rather rare scoreline.

Chris Sutton backs Man City to secure convincing win over Wolves

In his latest column for BBC Sport where he previewed and predicted the scores for all of this weekend’s Premier League matches, Chris Sutton said this about what score City could get against Wolves.

He said: “Wolves are bottom of the table with one point from their seven games so the last thing Gary O’Neil needs is to take on the champions.

“O’Neil was pretty scathing about his players’ defending after they got walloped 5-3 by Brentford last time out, and I think they might concede a few more goals here.

“Manchester City huffed and puffed before putting away Fulham and they always seem to ship a goal these days, but they have enough quality to win this very comfortably even if they can no longer keep a clean sheet.

“Erling Haaland has gone two league games without scoring, which is a long time for him, but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get a couple here.

“Wolves won this game last season but, a year on, they are not the same side and I am worried about the number of times they could be carved open. 1-6.”

Alan Shearer has also backed City to beat Wolves

Sutton isn’t the only pundit and former Blackburn Rovers striker to predict an away win, as Alan Shearer gave this prediction for City vs Wolves.

He said: “Wolves are under huge pressure after a poor start to the season. This is not the fixture you want to see when you are desperate for your first win of the season. I can’t see them taking anything from the game – City will get the three points.”

City have scored more goals than any other side in the league this season with 17, 10 of which have been scored by Haaland.

With that in mind and the fact that Wolves have conceded more goals (21) than anyone else in the division, it’s easy to see why Sutton has backed City to score more goals in Sunday’s game than they have in any other league match this season.

Regardless of the scoreline, Guardiola, Haaland and everyone else at the Manchester club will only be concerned with getting all three points and taking a step closer to potentially winning a fifth consecutive Premier League trophy.
