Chris Sutton has said it is “astonishing” just how outstanding Erling Haaland has been for Manchester City so far.
On the Daily Mail’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast, the pundit appreciated the magnificence of Haaland after he became the fastest player to reach 50 goals in Premier League history on Saturday against Liverpool.
Josko Gvardiol perhaps agrees with Chris Sutton as he admitted that he cannot “understand” how the 23-year-old could be on the periphery of things and all of sudden, change the course of a game singlehandedly.
Chris Sutton says it is “astonishing” how incredible Erling Haaland has been for Manchester City
Even Steve Nicol said that even though the Leeds-born striker plays in an elite team, it does not take away from his achievements, considering he has been incredibly prolific at every club he has played for.
Chris Sutton also gave Erling Haaland the credit he deserves after he made history once again in a Manchester City shirt.

“Just breaks records but it is phenomenal. You’ve [Ian Ladyman] covered the Premier League for however long, so 50 Premier League goals. Who held the record before Erling Haaland? First to 50?”
Ian Ladyman replied, “[Alan] Shearer.”
“Andy Cole. How many games did it take Andy Cole? 65. Erling Haaland, 50 goals, 48 Premier League games. That is, you know, you think of the great strikers. Great strikers, there have been in the Premier League, that’s astonishing!”, Sutton said on the Daily Mail’s It’s All Kicking Off podcast.
Erling Haaland should already be considered as one of the Premier League’s greatest-ever strikers
Just like how Luis Suarez is widely considered as a legendary No.9 in the Premier League for his time at Liverpool, the Norwegian should be getting the same treatment.
As Chris Sutton said, all Erling Haaland does is “break records” and he outscored one of many iconic strikers like the Uruguayan in his debut season by bagging a record 36 goals in the league.
To add to that, Haaland also won a historic treble.
No striker in Premier League history has operated at the same level as a goalscorer as the former Borussia Dortmund talisman so far.
When looking at a No.9’s peak in the Premier League, not many even come close to Erling Haaland.
