Claude Makelele has named Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne as one of the strongest players in the game.
During his career, the 51-year-old played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain among others, winning numerous titles in the process.
Now though, the Frenchman has been sharing his views on some of today’s top-name players, with one City star getting a special mention for one specific aspect of his game.
Makelele says De Bruyne is very strong

In a recent video shared on Goal’s official Tik Tok channel, Makelele was asked to build his ideal footballer by picking a current player based on their right foot, left foot, speed, strength and football intelligence.
When asked to select a player based on their strength, the former midfielder picked De Bruyne.
City signed the Belgian from Wolfsburg back in the 2015 summer transfer window in a deal worth £55m.
Since then, De Bruyne has made 368 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, finding the back of the net 98 times and providing 165 assists along the way.
Makelele isn’t the only player with a Chelsea connection that has highlighted the City star’s strength, as Marc Cucurella said back in April that the 32-year-old has “a lot of power” and is a “very strong” player.
While the midfielder is undoubtedly known for his ability to create goalscoring opportunities with his unique passing ability, it’s interesting to hear another figure in football talk about the more physical side of De Bruyne’s game.
Having spent a large chunk of the season out recovering from hamstring surgery, to then providing four assists in his first four league appearances since getting back to full fitness, it’s safe to say that he could be a key figure in City’s hunt to regain the three titles he helped them win last season.
