Clinton Morrison says Harry Kane would score as many goals as Erling Haaland for Man City

Clinton Morrison has claimed that Harry Kane would score as many goals as Erling Haaland in this Manchester City team.

Prior to today’s FA Cup final, the 22-year-old has found the net 52 times in 51 appearances across all competitions.

With a Premier League title and the Golden Boot under his belt, the Norwegian has established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe.

However, one pundit thinks another top-flight figure could replicate the same goalscoring output in Pep Guardiola’s side as Haaland has done this term.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport, Morrison said this on the matter.

He said: “I’ve always had this debate and it’s a hard one because I still believe if Harry Kane went in that Man City team, he would score over 50 goals because he scored over 30 goals at Tottenham.

“But Haaland is a serious footballer, for the age he’s at, he’s only 22 and he’s going to get better, brilliant.”

Back in the summer of 2021, City tried to secure a transfer deal for Kane but were unsuccessful. Thankfully, the club managed to bring in Haaland and see him take no time in becoming a top goalscorer for them.

As Morrison mentioned, Kane has found the net 30 times in the league this season having played the full 90 minutes in all but one of Spurs’ 38 games across the campaign.

Despite having more shots at goal (124 vs 116) and shots on target (54 vs 53) than Haaland, the Englishman has a lower percentage of shots on target than him (43.5% vs 45.7%).

The 29-year-old Spurs star also has a lower rate of goals per shot (0.2 vs 0.25) and goals per shot on target (0.46 vs 0.55) than the Norwegian.

While both are clearly very impressive players, it seems unlikely that anyone behind the scenes at City will be concerned about having missed out on signing Kane now that they have a striker like Haaland in the squad.
