“Clowns”: £52m Manchester City player now snaps at national media outlet

Erling Haaland has now snapped at Norwegian news outlet TV2 after Manchester City defeated Brighton on Saturday.

The Norway international took to Instagram to share his frustrations.

So, what did Erling Haaland write to TV2? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 23-year-old ended a run of three Premier League games without a goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brighton.

In response, Norwegian news outlet TV2 wrote a headline which oozed sarcasm.

It read: “Haaland scoring amazes us. Unusual to see.”

The clash has been picked up by VG in Norway, who offer some context by mentioning that there may still be some feelings of animosity towards Haaland after he struggled in the recent 1-0 defeat to Spain, a result which ended Norway’s chances of UEFA EURO 2024 qualification.

In response to TV2’s snide remark, the Manchester City No.9 wrote on Instagram: “Write about the fact that I finally ended the goal drought of all time. Clowns.”

What a response.

There was far too much negativity surrounding Haaland following a run of just three games without a goal, and the dry spell was seemingly getting to him based on his fiery reaction to TV2.

Haaland stepped up for Manchester City

Brighton are a very complicated side to face nowadays, so nobody would have been truly shocked if Haaland struggled to score against them too.

However, the Leeds-born striker stepped up to secure three important points for Manchester City.

As WhoScored shows, the £51.5m man had two shots on target – scoring from one – while also completing 100% of his 11 passes.

Haaland also made one tackle and won a freekick for the Citizens.

It was not a game in which Haaland was heavily involved throughout, although he made his actions count and reminded everyone of just how deadly he is in front of goal – hopefully, there is more to come.
