Al Ahli will reportedly make an official bid worth £17 million for Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez today.
That is according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
Supposedly, Mahrez is ready to leave City after a very successful five years at the club.
He lost prominence towards the end of last season, and did not play in the FA Cup or Champions League final.
He still scored 15 goals and made 13 assists.
But the feeling is that Mahrez may now be ready for a new chapter at the age of 32. Even though he is clearly still good enough to be playing at the highest level.
Apparently, his agents have requested talks with City about a potential exit.
Al Ahli ready to make £17 million bid for Riyad Mahrez
According to Foot Mercato, Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ahli are ready to make an official offer to City of £17 million for Mahrez today.
The publication claim that the club are ready to offer Mahrez a four-year deal.
This is an interesting claim, and completely at odds from the suggestions that Al Ahli were going to advance with a £30 million bid.
Man City should firmly reject £17 million Al Ahli bid and tell them to be serious
If it’s true that Al Ahli are really going to bid £17 million for Mahrez then they are delusional, and City should tell them to be serious.
Mahrez may have finished last season lacking starts. But he remains a top-class player, and one of the best in the world in his position.
Just a few months ago, Mahrez was branded ‘unplayable’ when he’s in the mood by former Premier League striker Jermain Defoe.
Yes he is 32 now. But Mahrez has shown no signs of ageing at City in recent times.
He’s still extremely fit and has never really relied on pace, so he isn’t slowing down or anything.

Furthermore, Mahrez still has two years let on his contract, putting City in a fairly strong position.
A £17 million offer would be derisory.
It probably needs to be double this for City to even start up a conversation with Al Ahli.
