‘Complete’ 22-year-old Man City loaned out has been making a claim to Pep Guardiola this season – opinion

Manchester City loanee Issa Kabore has been showing Pep Guardiola how capable he is of playing in the Premier League this season.

The previous summer transfer window saw numerous players make their way out of the Etihad Stadium to join other clubs on temporary deals for the season.

One of which is Kabore, who joined Luton Town on loan until the end of the season to get his first taste of Premier League action.

With a few months under his belt at the newly promoted club in the top flight, the right-back has shown how capable he is of playing in this league.

Since arriving at Kenilworth Road, the full-back has featured in all but one of Luton’s 12 Premier League games, starting nine of them.

Across those 11 league games, the 22-year-old has shown how useful he can be on the pitch in a defensive and attacking sense.

For example, in terms of his defensive work, the full-back has racked up the second-highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (33) at Luton, in addition to having the fourth-highest total of recoveries (50) and clearances (19).

Then from an attacking point of view, the Burkina Faso international has made more passes into the penalty area (13) than any other Luton player and has the second-highest number of progressive carries (28) in Rob Edwards’ side.

This backs up what football talent scout, Jacek Kulig, had to say about Kabore back in 2020 when he described him as a “complete” full-back.

While Luton have undeniably had a tough start to the campaign in terms of their results, Kabore has shown in these early months that he has what it takes to be a useful player in the Premier League.

Moving forward, if the defender can continue to deliver for the Hatters on the pitch, he could give Guardiola a question to answer over whether he deserves a place in City’s squad next season.
