Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Saudi Pro League tried to lure Kevin De Bruyne away from Manchester City during the recent summer transfer window.
The latest summer window saw a significant number of players move to Saudi Arabia from the Premier League such as Ruben Neves, Allan Saint-Maximin, Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino and N’Golo Kante among many others.
With the transfer windows in both England and Saudi now closed, one journalist has shared some behind-the-scenes details on another player that the Pro League wanted to add to their division.
Romano says Saudi wanted to sign De Bruyne

Speaking in a recent episode of The Here We Go Podcast, Romano had this to say about Saudi’s interest in De Bruyne.
He said: “There were some players who were not that strong in the media in terms of links with the Saudi league, which, in reality, received important proposals from Saudi.
“One, for example, is Kevin De Bruyne, at the beginning of the summer transfer window in Europe so it was the end of May, beginning of June after the Champions League final, it became concrete discussion from Saudi.
“They tried to approach Kevin De Bruyne but it was not even a negotiation because Kevin De Bruyne wanted to continue in Europe and to fight for titles with Manchester City.”

Bearing in mind how De Bruyne ended his previous Premier League campaign with more assists (16), shot-creating actions (176), goal-creating actions (31) and key passes (96) than any other City player, this highlights how important the 32-year-old is for the team.
It also makes it safe to say that potentially seeing him leave the club over the summer to join the Saudi League would have been a massive blow for the Manchester club.
Even though the midfielder will be out of action for the next few months after undergoing surgery to fix a hamstring problem, the fact that he is still at the club and had no interest in making a summer move to Saudi shows how much he loves City and wants to continue winning titles with them.
