Rico Lewis has officially signed a new contract with Manchester City.
The versatile youngster has been rewarded for his amazing development over the past year, which has seen him become a first-team option for Pep Guardiola.
Lewis made 23 appearances across all competitions for City last term.
And he seriously impressed, playing as a right-back and also as a midfielder.
Pep Guardiola showed how much he values Lewis by starting him against Burnley on Friday night in City’s first Premier League game of the new season.
City have announced that Lewis has signed a new five-year deal with the club. This had been touted as a possibility earlier this summer.

And today, the youngster marked the occasion on his Instagram.

Earlier today, Lewis took to Instagram to send a heartwarming message to fans.
Uploaded a number photos from his early days at the club, he wrote: “Since the age of 8, I have had a special connection to this club. I am delighted to re-sign with @mancity.

“What an amazing journey it has been so far. Six trophies in the last two years, and it still feels like we are just getting started.
“I am so thankful for all of the support. I can’t wait to create more special memories with you in the years to come!”
Hundreds of fans were in the comments congratulating Lewis.
And some of his teammates also left comments.
Cole Palmer said ‘Congrats my boy’.
Ruben Dias felt words were not required, leaving three clapping emojis.

This is great to see.
Lewis has progressed so well at City over the last 12 months and it is clear to see he is going to become a top player.
It’s actually scary to think about how good Lewis could become.

He is surrounded by world-class talent, and also has Pep Guardiola guiding him.
It would be no surprise if in five or six years time we are talking about him as one of the Premier League’s and England’s best players.
