Mark Schwarzer has said that Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish has stunned him with his redemption arc this campaign.

The former Leicester City goalkeeper made this claim on the Gegen Pod when handing out end-of-season awards to players from the English top-flight.

Mark Schwarzer singled Jack Grealish out for how he has managed to turn things around at Manchester City.

Mark Schwarzer raves about Manchester City superstar Jack Grealish

Even Michael Owen recently said that he had question marks about whether the 27-year-old would be a success at City, but has admitted to have been proven wrong.

The two-time Premier League winner, especially since returning from the World Cup looked like a completely new player in sky blue, as he was perhaps the catalyst behind his side’s devastating revival.

Now, Mark Schwarzer has lavished praise on to Jack Grealish for what has been a cracking campaign for him at Manchester City.

“Maybe it’s a little controversial, it’s maybe not fair to put him in this category. Breakout player, I’m going to say Jack Grealish. I thought he was bang average last season. I was very, very surprised that he’s actually adapted, he’s obviously got his head down and obviously, has really absorbed and embraced, and learned.”

“I think he’s been a phenomenal player this season.”

Jack Grealish is proof that Pep Guardiola signings deserve patience

Time and again, a number of signings at Manchester City struggle in their debut seasons and much like Jack Grealish was written off in a sense by Mark Schwarzer, they come back to prove their sceptics wrong.

The same was the case with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Rodri and Joao Cancelo, who all turned into some of the best players in the world at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s system is simply a challenge to adapt to but if a player manages to acclimatise, they become the most complete version of themselves.

That has been the case with Grealish, who has proven that patience indeed is a virtue when it comes to Guardiola signings.
