Paul Merson has dropped a claim regarding Manchester City’s position in the current race to win the Premier League title.
As things stand, the Citizens are currently four points behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table and one point above Arsenal.
With the Manchester club on the hunt to make history and become the first side to win a fourth league title in a row, one pundit has shared his thoughts on their pursuit and a particularly important period that faces them.
Merson highlights how City can win the league

In his latest column for Sportskeeda, Merson said this about the title race and what City need to do in the next few weeks to make sure they win the league.
He said: “We’ll know a lot more about this title race by the end of March. Manchester City have a difficult run in the next few weeks and will need to play crucial games against Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool. If Man City win their next four league games, they’re winning the Premier League title.”
Having played one game fewer than Jurgen Klopp’s side at this stage of the season, City have scored five fewer goals (63 vs 58) than them and conceded one more (25 vs 26).
After this weekend’s away clash against Bournemouth, City’s next run of fixtures includes games against Manchester United, Liverpool, Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal and Aston Villa, with FA Cup and Champions League games in between.
With all of those sides currently in the top seven of the league table, Pep Guardiola’s side are facing an undoubtedly tough period of the season.
This makes it easy to see why Merson has highlighted this as being a pivotal time for the Blues in the title race and why he thinks they’ll win the league if they manage to beat their upcoming competitors.
