Ilkay Gundogan has shared his thoughts on how he’d feel to play against Manchester City in the Champions League final.
After captaining the Citizens to last season’s Treble, which ended with them beating Inter Milan in the Champions League final, Gundogan joined Barcelona last summer as a free agent.
Now that both sides are in the quarter-finals of this season’s competition, the former City captain has been speaking about the possibility of facing off against his old side in the final.
Gundogan assesses Man City vs Barcelona in the Champions League final

Speaking in a recent interview with Sport, Gundogan said this when asked if he would like to play against City in the Champions League final with Barcelona.
He said: “Yes, of course. I mean, I would like to play in the final, first of all, with Barca, it would be amazing obviously.
“Then it doesn’t really matter who is going to be there. But, of course, Man City again this season have an amazing team.
“They have probably right now the best chance to get into the final. The Champions League is tricky and crucial and cruel competition so you never know what is going to happen, of course I would love to be in the final with Barca.”
Out of the eight Champions League games the Blues have played in this campaign, they have won all eight of them, scoring 24 goals and conceding nine goals along the way.
In comparison, Barcelona have won five, drawn one and lost two of their eight European games, scoring 16 goals and conceding eight in the process.
Taking into account how the draw panned out between the remaining clubs, if City were to overcome Real Madrid in the quarters and then either Arsenal or Bayern Munich in the semis, they would face off against Barcelona in the final at Wembley stadium if they get past Paris Saint-Germain in the quarters and either Borussia Dortmund or Atletico Madrid in the semis.
Given how historic his final season at the Manchester club was, it’s easy to see why Gundogan would like to face off against his old side in the final this time around.
