Danny Murphy claims one Man City player did something ‘strange’ against Arsenal

Manchester City had their most dramatic game of the season so far in last weekend’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal.

Having put themselves 1-0 up in the first 10 minutes at the Etihad Stadium, the Blues were trailing 2-1 but had a man advantage by halftime.

Then in virtually the last kick of the game, City scored an equaliser to rescue a point and remain unbeaten in the league.

However, an incident that took place on the pitch after the final whistle quickly became a topic of discussion, with one pundit now sharing his thoughts on the matter in question and the City player who was involved in it.

Danny Murphy drops verdict on Erling Haaland’s comments to Mikel Arteta after Man City v Arsenal

After footage emerged of Erling Haaland telling Mikel Arteta to stay humble in the immediate aftermath of City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal last weekend, Danny Murphy had this to say on talkSPORT (25/9 11:25 AM) about the situation when asked if he thinks the striker needs to think about his humility.

He said: “When you’re playing to the level he is, it doesn’t seem to be affecting him, you could argue carry on doing what you want to do.

“I think a little bit be careful because one of Haaland’s attractions, especially initially when he came is that he does get on with it, doesn’t seem the flashiest man in the world, he works hard and he gets on.

“I think telling Arteta to stay humble was a strange thing and one I don’t really want to see. He’s the manager of the opposition walking on the pitch minding his own business.

“Haaland doesn’t need to be telling the Arsenal manager how to behave. Walk off the pitch, you’ve just nicked a draw, get off, you’ve scored again.

“I think Haaland will regret that. This outburst to Arteta and this rivalry with Gabriel and things that happened at the weekend shouldn’t be the primary reason we judge him.

“He’s behaved in a way since his time being here, we’ve judged him and talked about him, pretty well. He’s kept humble in all his conversations, his interviews have been pretty good.

“He’s let himself down, I think, at the weekend with that Arteta stuff.”

Haaland will have his reasons for Arteta comment

Not only did the striker score his 100th City goal to put his side ahead against the Gunners, but he also grabbed headlines for bouncing the ball off Gabriel’s head after John Stones grabbed the crucial equaliser.

After his comments towards Arteta, Haaland found himself exchanging heated words with former City star Gabriel Jesus.

Now that Murphy has shared his dismay at what the 24-year-old said to Arteta despite praising him for his overall behaviour since joining City, it must be said that Haaland will have had his reasons in addition to the fact that there may have been some context about the situation that wasn’t presented in the footage shown of the incident.
