Danny Murphy has shared his praise for Kevin De Bruyne after another Premier League-winning season with Manchester City.
The midfielder recently picked up his fifth league title with the Citizens and could still get his hands on the FA Cup and the Champions League before the end of the season.
De Bruyne’s efforts in the league this season have led to him being included in Murphy’s team of the season, which the pundit shared on talkSPORT.
Murphy heaps praise on De Bruyne
Speaking on the matter, Murphy said this about the City star.
He said: “De Bruyne speaks for himself, nothing else needed really when you talk about Kevin De Bruyne that’s how good he is.
“He’s also so pleasing on the eye, the way he glides across the pitch, everything he does is just beautifully executed. I described him a bit like the [Roger] Federer of football in an article recently, it’s just effortless.”
With 32 league appearances under his belt this term, the 31-year-old has scored seven goals and delivered 18 assists, which is more assists than any other player in the league has supplied.
Taking a deeper look at what the £54m midfielder has done on the pitch this season, only Bruno Fernandes (112) and Kieran Trippier (110) have made more key passes in the league than him (96).
In addition to that, his overall performances have earned him a season rating of 7.58/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player in the division.
Murphy’s praise isn’t the first time the Belgian has been lauded by a former Premier League player this season, as Gary Neville said back in February that De Bruyne is the best player in the country.
Overall, it’s easy to see why Murphy has included the City midfielder in his team of the season given the goal contributions he has delivered for his side in this campaign, making him a big part of why they can call themselves champions again.
