Manchester were involved in multiple transfer deals during the previous summer window.
In addition to bringing Ilkay Gundogan back to the Etihad Stadium after spending a year at Barcelona, City also secured a £33m deal for Savinho.
These ended up being the only incoming transfers Pep Guardiola’s side made throughout the summer.
On the flip side, the Manchester club sanctioned several deals that saw numerous players leave the club either on permanent deals or temporary loans.
With the second international break of the season now underway, a pundit and former Premier League player has made a claim about what he’s seen from one particular figure who brought an end to his time at City over the summer.

Darren Bent makes Liam Delap claim after Man City transfer exit
While assessing how some of the transfers from the previous summer window have panned out so far, Darren Bent made this claim regarding Liam Delap following his move from City to Ipswich Town.
He said: “It’s a steal now, but at the time people thought oh that’s a lot of money for someone we don’t know if he could cut it week in, week out.
“But he’s almost stepped up like he’s got a point to prove. The way he plays is like you know what, I’m going to show everybody I’m a good player, so yeah he’s a hit.”
Bent claimed ‘powerful’ Delap could be vital for Ipswich this season
As a product of City’s youth academy, the Englishman made just six senior appearances before the club sold him to Kieran McKenna’s side in a deal worth a total fee of £20m (via BBC Sport).
With seven Premier League games under his belt this season, the 21-year-old has bagged four goals.
This isn’t the first time the talkSPORT pundit has shared his praise for the striker, as Bent gave this assessment about Delap and what he’s done on the pitch for the Tractors so far this season.
He said: “I really rate him. I do think he has been brilliant. Even in the games he hasn’t scored in, I remember Brighton, him running and hitting the post with a powerful run.
“I’ve not really seen him before that, I saw him a little bit at Derby and obviously Man City, that’s where he, for Man City’s U23s, was smashing the goals in.
“The size of him! He’s big, powerful, strong. What I like about him as well, not only is he a goalscorer, he likes to mix it as well.
“We saw what he did to [Jarell] Quansah, [in the] first game of the season. Puts himself about and he’ll always be a handful.
“Maybe Ipswich haven’t got off to the best of starts but he will play a major factor in what happens to Ipswich going forward.”
In addition to that, Mark Schwarzer called Delap “excellent” for his performance in Ipswich’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.
This further highlights how well the striker has adapted to playing regular top-flight football.
It also raises the question of whether City should have kept him at the club and used him as a backup option for Erling Haaland.
