David Ornstein has given his verdict on whether Kevin De Bruyne could leave Manchester City for a club in Saudi Arabia in 2024.
The Athletic journalist has shared what he knows about the situation regarding De Bruyne and City.
So, what has been said about Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City and Saudi Arabia?
Let’s take a look.
What’s the story?
Well, there is speculation that Kevin De Bruyne’s time at Manchester City is coming to an end.
De Bruyne is 32 now and has had injury issues in recent times.
The Belgium international midfielder is on the sidelines at the moment.
On November 6, TEAMtalk reported that City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, could sell De Bruyne at the end of the season.
Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia are “very interested” in De Bruyne, according to the report.
The report added that City are looking at potential replacements for the 32-year-old, who is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2025.
The Athletic journalist David Ornstein has shared what he knows about his situation.
James H asked Ornstein on Q&A in The Athletic how likely it is that De Bruyne will join a club in Saudi Arabia in 2024.
Ornstein responded: “Very unlikely, James.”
Manchester City should keep Kevin De Bruyne
In my view, Manchester City should not sell Kevin De Bruyne in the summer of 2024.
Of course, a big bid could be hard to turn down, but I do not think that City should actively try to offload the Belgian.
Although De Bruyne has had injury problems and is in his early 30s now, he is a very good player who turns up in big games.
Yes, City are doing well without the former Chelsea player and are not missing him now, but there is no doubt whatsoever that they are a better team with De Bruyne in it.
The Belgian is hugely experienced and is a leader, and I do not think that City should rush to sell him.
