Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman is really hoping the Gunners land Manchester City maestro Ilkay Gundogan this summer.

Speculation continues to swirl about the German.

The 32-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season.

Talks are ongoing between Gundogan and his representatives and the club.

In all likelihood, a decision probably won’t be made, or at least be announced publicly, until after the Champions League final.

The majority of City fans are desperate for Gundogan to stay at the club, especially having seen how good he has been in the last few months.

Despite his advancing years, £140,000-a-week star Gundogan is showing no signs of slowing down.

It is little wonder a number of other clubs are circling.

Just recently, Arsenal have become linked with Gundogan, with The Athletic reporting that Mikel Arteta has concrete interest in the player.

Gundogan was a topic of conversation on the Seaman Says podcast this week, and he’s a player David Seaman wants at the Emirates.

He said: “He’s definitely not past it. He’s proving game in, game out how good he is. When you’re playing that many games, and starting that many games, you aren’t all of a sudden going to switch it off. he’s got at least another season, if not two.

“Would I take him? All day long. I think he’s that type of player that suits Arsenal.”

Ilkay Gundogan would take Arsenal to another level, hopefully he doesn’t go there

Both Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus have improved Arsenal, but Gundogan would be a serious addition for the Gunners.

Hopefully, City officials can come to an agreement on a new contract for him soon.

He is clearly showing he still has at least another season in him.

If an agreement cannot be reached, then City officials can only hope that he chooses to go to a club overseas, like Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain.

If he can’t be kept, then the next best thing would be for him to move away from the Premier League, where he can’t potentially do any harm to City in their bid for future titles.
