Pep Guardiola has lavished praise upon Jack Grealish for how instrumental he was for Manchester City last season.

Ahead of City’s encounter against Chelsea (via HaytersTV’s official YouTube channel), the Spaniard had his say on the Englishman’s recent form, as well as his displays during their treble-winning campaign.

Recently, Paul Dickov also claimed that the 28-year-old has been “fantastic” for Manchester City since the Qatar World Cup last year.

While many, such as even Michael Owen admitted to being doubtful about whether the two-time Premier League winner was the right fit for the club, he let his splendid performances do the talking.

Pep Guardiola has looked back on how pivotal Jack Grealish was for Manchester City as they won a historic treble during the 2022/2023 campaign while also adding that he continues to improve his game.

“The first year when we were adapting a little bit but last season, [he] especially was decisive for many things and now, every time, he’s getting better”, Guardiola told HaytersTV.

Jack Grealish was one of the key reasons why the Sky Blues’ new system worked to a tee

As Pep Guardiola employed a more pragmatic set-up during the second half of last season, Jack Grealish proved to be a huge factor behind why his side’s newfound system worked to perfection.

With a bulk of the chance creation emerging from the advanced midfield pair of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan, it seemed like it was up to the wide players to strike a balance between ball retention and decisiveness in the final third.

Jack Grealish managed to find the perfect middle ground, allowing Manchester City to exact control against the best of the best while continuing to give defenders a nightmare.

Additionally, Grealish’s relentless off-the-ball work was a sight to behold, playing a massive role in City arguably reaching the best version of themselves defensively under Guardiola, which was crucial to a fairytale season for the club.
