‘Definitely goals in it’… Peter Crouch gives his prediction for Man City vs Chelsea this Saturday

Peter Crouch has made his score prediction for when Manchester City take on Chelsea this weekend.

City return to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday after a successful trip to Denmark mid-week where they defeated FC Copenhagen 3-1 in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

Pep Guardiola’s side have now won 11 straight matches in all competitions and are starting to hit their relentless stride.

The manager has repeatedly shut down any talk of a back-to-back treble but the chances are certainly looking good.

However, City have enjoyed a fairly comfortable run of fixtures in 2024, with trips to Newcastle and Tottenham their only outings against top sides so far.

Chelsea are nowhere near the top of the table at present and only just scrapped a late win against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Yet they will pose City a threat, especially with Cole Palmer in their ranks as he returns to his old stomping ground for the first time.

Peter Crouch makes his Man City vs Chelsea prediction

Speaking on his That Peter Crouch Podcast, the former striker said: “I think Chelsea got a late victory at Palace during the week, City look like they are back into great.

“Kevin de Bruyne back. There is definitely goals in it but I can’t see anything but a City win. 3-0.”

A tough test

Chelsea aren’t exactly tearing the league up, which is criminal given how much money they’ve spent, but they can still be dangerous.

City learned that first-hand in the first meeting this season at Stamford Bridge, which ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Palmer stung his old side that night by converting the last-gasp penalty and he has continued to impress, inspiring Chelsea to defeat Palace with two late assists.

The 21-year-old will be looking to prove a point when he returns to the Etihad.

City also won’t be going into the game at 100 per cent. Josko Gvardiol and Jack Grealish have been ruled out for a few weeks while Bernardo Silva is a doubt after picking up a knock in Copenhagen.

The Blues should win but it’s unlikely to be a walk in the park.
