Joleon Lescott says only Zlatan Ibrahimovic can be compared to Erling Haaland in terms of his goalscoring ability.
The 22-year-old is one game away from completing his debut season with Manchester City, as they prepare to take on Inter Milan in Saturday’s Champions League final.
Having seen the striker score 52 goals in 52 appearances with the Citizens, one former City player has shared his thoughts on the 22-year-old and the manner in which he scores his goals.
Lescott says only one player comes close to Haaland
Speaking in a recent interview with 90 Min, Lescott said this about Haaland.
He said: “I think he’s definitely a unique talent, generational talent.
“There’s types of goals that not many forwards could score, and that’s kind of why I’ve compared him to Zlatan.
“There’s a couple in his catalogue that only he reaches, he attempts, he executes. That would be the closest comparison.”

With 234 senior club appearances under his belt throughout his career so far, the centre-forward has scored 187 goals.
In comparison with Ibrahimovic, who recently announced his retirement from football, he scored 496 goals in 827 appearances.
This highlights how proficient the two players are in terms of scoring goals at different clubs.
With his first Premier League title and FA Cup secured, the Norwegian has the chance to make history tomorrow and win the Champions League, which would be the first time he or City would do so.
It also gives him the opportunity to add to his already impressive goal tally if he can find the back of the net against Inter.
Bearing in mind how Haaland wasn’t able to score against Real Madrid in City’s semi-final games that took them to the final, he will surely be desperate to add another Champions League goal to his record, especially if it leads to him lifting the trophy.
