Danny Murphy has now commented on Sky’s decision to place the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Liverpool at 12:30pm on Saturday.
The 46-year-old discussed the timing on talkSPORT.
So, what did Danny Murphy say about Manchester City vs Liverpool? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the man from Chester claimed it is “disappointing” to see the weekend’s showpiece event take place on Saturday afternoon.
The Premier League’s best fixture is usually reserved for a 5:30pm slot on Saturday, or the 4:30pm position on a Sunday.
However – as we explained earlier this week on Manchester City News – Sky Sports decided to pick the 12:30pm slot due to Manchester City’s involvement in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Policing also entered the equation, and it was decided that 12:30pm would be a more sensible kick-off time than 5:30pm.
Speaking about Sky’s decision, Murphy said: “I think it will be a fascinating game because of the quality on show. A little bit disappointing that it is on at half 12, but only because of the tempo and quality that you want to see the game played at.”

Hopefully, Saturday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium will still be an entertaining spectacle, regardless of the strange kick-off time.
Manchester City boast strong record against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium
While Manchester City could be without Erling Haaland for the visit of Liverpool, Pep Guardiola can find comfort in the fact his side often defeat the Reds at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City haven’t tasted defeat against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium since April 10th 2018, when goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah secured victory for the Reds in the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final.

Since then, Manchester City have only lost four out of 14 meetings with Liverpool, all of which came at Anfield or a neutral venue.
Therefore, the treble winners should have plenty of confidence at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday.
