Divock Origi has now named Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero as more of a Premier League icon than Robin van Persie.
The Belgian made the comment when speaking to GOAL.
So, what did Divock Origi say about Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero? Let’s take a look…
Origi picks Aguero over Van Persie
Well, the 28-year-old was asked to choose between a handful of Premier League legends.
Origi opted for Didier Drogba over Alan Shearer – to give one example – before choosing Aguero over Van Persie as well.
The Nottingham Forest No.27 simply replied “Aguero” with a smirk on his face before GOAL swiftly moved on.
We simply cannot disagree.
Aguero remarkably scored 184 goals in just 275 Premier League appearances during his time at the Etihad Stadium, while also providing 47 assists as Manchester City won five Premier League titles.

In regards to Van Persie, the Dutchman netted 144 goals in 280 Premier League appearances, setting up a further 53 as he lifted one Premier League title.
In that respect, there is barely an argument to be had – Origi was spot on to select the Argentine.
How Aguero fared after leaving Manchester City
Aguero moved to Barcelona when his contract with Manchester City expired in May 2021.
As most will know at this point in time, the South American sadly had to retire due to a heart problem just months later in December 2021.
In his five appearances for Barcelona, Aguero scored one goal – which actually came in El Clasico against Real Madrid.

The 35-year-old is now a popular streamer on Twitch, gaining millions of followers while even managing to get a call with Lionel Messi during one of his live streams.
Aguero also acts as Chairman for his team Kunisports in the Kings League – which was founded by Gerard Pique.
