‘Don’t think’… Pundit says there’s ‘something not quite right’ at Man City this season

Pundit Steve Nicol has claimed that Manchester City won’t go on their usual winning streak to land the Premier League title this season.

Previous seasons have seen Pep Guardiola’s side go on long periods where they pick up consistent victories that have led them to lifting the Premier League trophy.

However, with the Citizens having dropped points on six occasions this season, one pundit has made a prediction for how the club will fare going forward.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the ESPN FC YouTube channel, Nicol had this to say about the title race and what he thinks City won’t be able to do throughout the second half of the campaign.

He said: “I don’t think Manchester City are going to do what they’ve done in the last two or three seasons. When it’s come to January, they’ve put their foot on the gas and then they’ve taken off. I don’t think they’re going to do that this season.

“Other than the injuries, there’s something not quite right defensively and they don’t look as fluid going forward.”

With the Manchester club having played 16 games so far in this campaign, prior to this weekend’s match against Crystal Palace, they have won 10, drawn three and lost three, scoring 38 goals and conceding 18 in the process.

Taking into account how the Citizens only dropped points on eight occasions before they were crowned league champions last season, this shows how close they are to going over that threshold this time around.

This could be why Nicol thinks it could be harder for them to go through their usual protocol of winning games consistently in the final months of the season.

Moving forward, if they want to regain their Premier League title, City will have to win as many games as they can to make sure the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool don’t take their crown.
