Manchester City midfielder Oscar Bobb has said he has been amazed by what he has seen from Bernardo Silva on the training pitch.

The 20-year-old recently completed City’s pre-season tour of Asia as a part of Pep Guardiola’s squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

With the new Premier League season close to kicking off, the youngster has been reflecting on his time spent with the first team in Asia and spoke about one player in particular who caught his attention.

Speaking in a recent edition of the Official Man City Podcast, Bobb had this to say about Silva when asked which of the senior players have impressed him during the pre-season tour.

He said: “I’ve never seen him lose the ball, dribbling, creativity, he’s someone I look up to of course. With him, I don’t understand how he does it.

“I think not only his dribbling but his balance obviously plays a part in that is incredible. The runs he goes on, the way he keeps the ball the way he skips past players, I think is amazing.”

Bearing in mind how Guardiola said that Silva is one of the best players he has coached throughout his career, this makes it easy to see why Bobb looks up to the Portuguese international and has been amazed by what he does in training.

While the youngster has highlighted how impressive the 28-year-old is with the ball at his feet, the fact that he ended the previous Premier League season with the second-highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (60) at the club shows how effective he can be out of possession as well.

Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see if Bobb gets his chance to feature in the senior side at any point next season and if he’s able to play alongside Silva at any point.
