Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has grabbed a lot of headlines this summer.

After winning his sixth Premier League trophy with Pep Guardiola’s side, the Brazilian has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

In fact, Al Nassr and Al Ittihad have been forced to walk away from negotiations due to City’s sizeable price tag.

More recently, it was reported by The Athletic that the praise Stefan Ortega was given after replacing the injured Ederson in City’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last season led to the Brazil international wanting to leave the club.

This has now led to the multiple Premier League winners sharing a statement on social media addressing the claim.

Ederson responds to claims of a rift between him and Stefan Ortega

In a statement shared on his Instagram story (via City Xtra), Ederson clarified that there was and is no issue between him and Ortega and that he is focused on preparing for the new season ahead.

The Brazilian also clarified that the frustration he showed after coming off against Spurs was due to the injury he sustained in the match causing him to miss the remainder of the season and the Copa America.

Ederson should continue his journey at City

Having spent seven years as City’s first-choice shot-stopper, Ederson has appeared in 332 games with the Blues across all competitions, keeping 155 clean sheets along the way.

Even though the two previously mentioned Saudi clubs have walked away from signing the goalkeeper, Guardiola still admitted in a recent press conference that he is unsure whether the 30-year-old will stay at the club this summer.

In our view, now that he has dismissed the claims of him falling out with Ortega, we feel that Ederson should continue being focused on the upcoming season and not look to leave the club he’s been such an integral part of for such a significant period of time.
