Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has given perhaps the most ‘Ederson’ answer possible in an interview with Sky Sports.
The Brazilian sat down the broadcaster ahead of this weekend’s game with Southampton.
City are looking to put pressure on Arsenal, who play on Sunday at 4.30pm against Liverpool.
There is a golden chance for Pep Guardiola’s side to cut the gap back down to five points, against the Premier League’s bottom side.
But it will be a tough game. The Saints, of course, dumped City out of the Carabao Cup back in January.
City stopper Ederson is set to keep up his 100% appearance record in the Premier League, and the Brazilian will undoubtedly be key in building those attacks from the back as usual.
Ederson is often talked about as the goalkeeper that is brilliant with his feet.
While that is true, the 29-year-old says he still prefers to make a good save than an assist. He tells Sky: “I definitely prefer making saves. That is what we put our best work towards. But I am really happy to make assists.”
Something else Ederson is known for is never shirking challenges.
The £35 million South American never hesitates to race off his line if he needs to.
This style can sometimes result in some heavy hits, like the one he took from Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane back in 2017.
But Ederson is simply not fazed by the potential to get hurt.
He added: “I always put myself into it with everything that I have, even if I have to break every bone in my body, I will do it.”

He is uncompromising and committed, and that is just brilliant to see as a supporter.
Yes, sometimes he can be rash and it can land City in a spot of bother.
But Ederson has long been, and still is, a quality goalkeeper.
He’s been integral to the way this team has played for the past six years, and it is hard to see anyone else ousting him as the number one while Guardiola is at the helm. Even if Stefan Ortega is providing a strong push.
