Former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has shared his thoughts on potentially facing his former side in the Champions League final.
The 37-year-old scored the opening goal in Inter Milan’s 2-0 win over AC Milan in yesterday’s Champions League semi-final first leg.
Tuesday saw City draw 1-1 with Real Madrid in the other semi-final first leg game, setting up a crucial second-leg tie at the Etihad Stadium next week.
Following Inter’s win over their close rivals, Dzeko was asked about the possibility of seeing his current side face Pep Guardiola’s team in the final should both outfits make it through.
In response, Dzeko had this to say. He said: “I wish.”
Dzeko wants City in the Champions League final

During his time at City, the centre-forward made 189 appearances across all competitions, scoring 72 goals, providing 38 assists and winning two Premier League titles.
One of the Bosnian’s most significant moments in a City shirt saw him score the crucial equaliser against Queens Park Rangers at the end of the 2011/12 Premier League season which shortly after saw Sergio Aguero score the dramatic winner to seal the title for City.
The veteran’s current season with Inter has seen him score 14 goals in 47 appearances, with nine of those goals coming across the 31 Serie A games he’s appeared in.
While the former City star may be hoping to face his old side in the Champions League final, the Citizens have a big task on their hands before they can call themselves finalists.
With the Spanish giants more familiar than most at getting to the latter stages of the biggest club football competition, the challenge facing Guardiola’s side cannot be underestimated.
