Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing Jack Grealish this summer.
The latest from The Daily Mail is that Aston Villa are now bracing themselves for an offer from the Premier League champions.
Grealish has been linked with City for a number of months now.
Some have argued that he isn’t really needed at the Etihad, and that the focus should be more on getting a new striker, like Harry Kane, into the club.
But Raheem Sterling’s struggles have been a concern, and Bernando Silva and Riyad Mahrez have both been linked with exits.
So it’s hard to see the interest reports fizzling out – especially with Villa reportedly on the verge of signing Emi Buendia.
Apparently Dean Smith’s side have agreed a £33 million deal for the Argentine, which could eventually rise to £40 million (Sky Sports).
That’s certainly an eye-catching transfer if it does indeed go through – and one that might just help City on the signing Grealish front.
Buendia’s Villa transfer perhaps helps City
This could be something that sees Villa alter their stance on Grealish.
Buendia is known for being a brilliant technician and creator.
He can play in wide areas and also centrally.
In that sense, it seems like he could fill any void created by Grealish.
Villa probably won’t want to lose their talisman, but with Buendia set to join, their stance might just be a little softer than it was.
