Pep Guardiola is the type of manager who is capable of singlehandedly transforming clubs.

Guardiola had an unforgettable impact on Barcelona in terms of the style of play he brought to the table alongside the silverware he won.

During his spell at Manchester City, the Catalan tactician has transformed the club from one that won a few major trophies to a winning machine.

At Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola managed to improve several of their top players, play some of the dominant football in the club’s history and win three Bundesliga titles in succession.

However, a key aspect of management that the masses should learn is that certain jobs do not suit some managers.

For instance, despite David Moyes having a terrific career, his time at Manchester City will always remain a black mark during his time in management.

Similarly, Carlo Ancelotti struggled to turn Everton into a team that consistently challenges for Europe.

Unai Emery’s time at Arsenal was also one to forget.

Jose Mourinho’s spell at Tottenham Hotspur was possibly the lowest point of his illustrious career.

The list goes on and on, despite Moyes, Ancelotti, Emery and Mourinho being brilliant managers.

Emmanuel Petit believes that even Pep Guardiola would find it difficult to turn Manchester United’s fortunes around.

On talkSPORT, Petit claimed: “If you put [Pep] Guardiola, the best manager or even [Mikel] Arteta on the bench of Manchester United, I’m not sure they will do better because I think there are so many average players over there.”

“I think if they’re [the “average” Manchester United players] listening to us, I think they will understand exactly what I’m saying.”

Pep Guardiola might have a tough time at Manchester United

Pep Guardiola would certainly be able to elevate Manchester United as a side and all in all, do an excellent job if he was the man in charge at Old Trafford.

However, where the £378,846-a-week manager could have a tough time is in terms of United’s hit-and-miss transfer policy.

Furthermore, there seems to be a culture of failure that has sank in at Manchester United.

With Pep Guardiola being a serial winner, he might grow frustrated at how the club seem to be the anthesis of him as a character.

However, it would be a fool’s errant to doubt Guardiola’s credentials in any respect, considering his unparalleled impact on several elite clubs during his career.

But the Manchester United job seems to have become somewhat of a poisoned chalice nowadays.
