Manchester City have a lot of talented young players on their books, and one of them really caught the eye of Erling Haaland.
City’s first-team generated plenty of headlines recently for winning the Treble.
It was truly an outstanding season from Pep Guardiola’s side, who are now being talked about as one of the greatest club sides ever seen.
The City EDS were champions of PL2 for the third season running.
The U18s also had a fine campaign. And within that U18s squad is Justin Oboavwoduo – and the youngster has caught the eye of City superstar Haaland.
Erling Haaland wowed watching Justin Oboavwoduo score goals
City have released a video of their top goalscorers from last season reacting to each other’s goals.
Haaland, Bunny Shaw of the Women’s team, Carlos Borges (U21s) and Oboavwoduo all sat down to cast their eyes over each other’s goals from the 2022/23 season.
There were some absolutely superb strikes last season.
But the one that caught everyone’s eye was Oboavwoduo’s for the U18s against Nottingham Forest back in January.
Oboavwoduo controlled a ball in his chest before laying off to his teammate Ashton Muir.
Muir then played a little bouncing ball through, before Oboavwoduo absolutely lashed the ball into the top corner.
Commentating, Haaland said: “What a play. What a goal. Volley it in. Beautiful goal. That is a top goal. I think this one (is my favourite), I have to say. It was a perfect goal.

Also in the video, Haaland watches Oboavwoduo, who is still only 16, score against Newcastle United.
He’s bearing down on goal before chopping inside with a Cruyff turn. Oboavwoduo then impudently scores with a lovely finish with the outside of his foot into the far corner, prompting Haaland to gasp and say ‘Zidane style, this’.
Erling Haaland seal of approval will be huge for Justin Oboavwoduo
What a couple of goals these were from Oboavwoduo, who just looks another wonderful prospect on the books at City.
At the end of the video, Oboavwoduo is told that everyone liked his goal the most, and you can see how happy it makes him.
Haaland’s seal of approval will be especially nice, given the Norwegian’s status as the world’s best striker.

City fans definitely ought to keep an eye out for Oboavwoduo in the coming years.
He’s still only 16 so he has a lot of developing to do before being considered for the first-team.
But he’s already caught Haaland’s eye and hopefully we’ll be seeing him later down the line.
