Manchester City fans went wild for Phil Foden today as the star scored two goals against Huddersfield Town – and Erling Haaland also got caught up in Foden mania at one point.

City secured safe passage to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 5-0 win over the Championship side at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden helped himself to two goals, with Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doky also on target. There was also an own goal forced by Oscar Bobb.

Foden was a joy to watch today, which has been the case lot recently as he’s taken up central positions.

He came in for priase throughout the game from BBC pundit Leon Osman, and he really did light up the game at times.

His second goal was superbly taken, and it certainly got a creation out of injured City striker Erling Haaland

Haaland was present at the Etihad once again today to watch his teammates in action.

The Norwegian is back in first-team training at City, but was not quite ready to play today against the Terriers. The hope is that he will be fit to play against Newcastle United next Saturday.

This was the eighth game he has missed for City, but he didn’t cut too much of a frustrated figure today, with his teammates impressive.

Foden was especially good again in the number 10 role, and his second goal in the 64th minute was a beautiful controlled finish into the far corner.

Haaland was being filmed from the side from where he was sat, and the official FA Cup account on X has uploaded the clip, which shows the 23-year-old lapping up his teammate’s goal.

BBC iPlayer also clocked Haaland’s reaction, with the star giving a huge grin.

Haaland must be desperate to play with Foden again

What a performance this was again from Foden, who is absolutely thriving playing in the middle right now.

The England international has done a terrific job in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, and a lot of City fans are hoping that he continues to play centrally, as is he himself.

Haaland is probably hoping for that too at this point, because Foden’s vision and ability to play through balls is special. He is totally aware of everything that’s going on around him and where his teammates are.

He’s combined really well with Alvarez recently, so you can only imagine the destruction that could happen once Haaland is back leading the line.
