Kalvin Phillips came off the bench during Manchester City’s 2-0 win against Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup.
Phillips is in Manchester City’s squad and until at least the winter transfer window, it seems like Pep Guardiola is willing to utilise him as a squad player.
The England international replaced Nico Gonzalez in the 83rd minute of the contest.
Pep Guardiola deployed Phillips in his usual defensive midfield role, as he made an appearance for City for the first time in 645 days.
Erling Haaland reacted to his teammate’s return to proceedings.

Haaland was not named in Manchester City’s squad against Huddersfield, as he was one of the many big names who were left at home.
Other notable figures included the likes of Rodri and Jeremy Doku, as goals from Phil Foden and Savinho helped the Sky Blues ease past the League One side.

However, as Phillips was brought off the bench against Huddersfield, Haaland took to Snapchat to react to his Manchester City teammate getting some minutes under his belt.
The Norwegian striker wrote: “Yorkshire Pirlo is back.”
Haaland must have been delighted about Phillips’ return, considering he has played 14 games alongside him at Manchester City.

The pair have won 11, drawn two and lost one match in tandem.
Joining City in the same summer transfer window as well, both players must share a close bond.
Hopefully for Phillips’ sake, he gets a chance to redeem himself at the Etihad Stadium this season.
