Erling Haaland has responded to Kevin De Bruyne’s latest Instagram post hinting at how keen he is to have the midfielder back on the pitch.

The Belgian recently shared a post on his Instagram page that contained an image of him alongside Drake and an additional image where someone listed as ‘K. De Bruyne’ was named as a writer on one of the Canadian rapper’s new songs.

The City midfielder captioned his post by tagging Drake and saying that he ‘needed an assist,’ before then clarifying in a comments on the post that although he is a big fan of the rapper, he is not the same De Bruyne that helped write this new song.

This post then caught the attention of Haaland, who was not shy in sharing his thoughts on the matter and his teammate’s eagerness to provide assists.

In response to De Bruyne’s amusing post about providing Drake with a lyrical assist, Haaland had this to say.

He said: “He is not alone.”

This suggests that the Norwegian is eager to see the midfielder back on the pitch and providing assists for him, having been out of action with a hamstring injury since August.

Earlier this month, Guardiola revealed that the injured midfielder feels good at the moment but the club will not look to rush him back to action.

Bearing in mind how the 32-year-old provided 13 assists for Haaland last season across all competitions, it’s no surprise that he’s keen to see De Bruyne on the pitch again so he can help the centre-forward score more goals.

Across the previous Premier League campaign, the Belgian racked up more key passes (96), shot-creating actions (176) and goal-creating actions (31) than any other City player, which highlights how effective he is when it comes to setting up goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.

Even though Haaland has found the net 17 times in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, mostly without De Bruyne on the pitch, the prospect of having the duo back on the pitch together is surely a mouth-watering one for many City supporters and Pep Guardiola.
