Erling Haaland will be secretly quite happy after seeing new transfer rumour coming out of Liverpool

Ahead of the 2025/2026 season, all eyes will be fixated on Manchester City to see whether they will be able to usurp Liverpool as the best team in the Premier League.

However, as things stand, Arne Slot looks set to defend his league crown as the Reds have made statement signings including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

Pep Guardiola aims to win the Premier League and it would be a fool’s errand to ever write the Manchester City boss off, considering his track record of winning silverware is second to none.

Furthermore, City’s new signings like Rayan Cherki expressed their determination to step up to the plate from day one.

Erling Haaland will be happy about Liverpool eyeing Alexander Isak move

However, as Liverpool are open to signing Alexander Isak, who Fabrizio Romano claimed has informed Newcastle United of his desire to leave, one man who could be excited about this particular development is Erling Haaland.

The reason could be that the disadvantage Alexander Isak could have at Liverpool is that unlike at Newcastle, the goals may be shared around among their forwards as Ekitike, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo are all being bankable goalscorers.

The same is not the case at City, with Kevin De Bruyne labelling Haaland a “machine” as he has been their top goalscorer during the entirety of his spell at the Etihad Stadium.

At St. James’ Park, the former Real Sociedad striker was far and away their highest goalscorer last season, bagging 27 in all competitions while Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy finished joint-second with just nine.

As a result, Haaland, who Pep Guardiola lauded by naming him as “the best striker in the world” could win the prestigious Golden Boot award for the third time in four seasons — as even Salah will do his best to provide service for Isak — which could impact the Egyptian’s goal tally — who is another one of the Norwegian’s main competitors for the accolade.

Haaland has scored 31 more goals than Isak and while the latter’s tally could improve if he were to join Liverpool, the star striker is clearly the superior player for now.

As a result, the Leeds-born marksman has the edge over the latter in the race to win the Golden Boot next season.
