European club will not sell ‘sensational’ player to Man City; he’s untouchable

Manchester City could have a tough time trying to secure a deal for reported transfer target Nicolo Barella this summer.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Inter Milan midfielder is at the top of City’s list of potential replacements for Bernardo Silva, who has a number of clubs looking to sign him.

However, a fresh claim has emerged suggesting that it may not be straightforward for the treble winners to land a deal for the Italian.

Inter consider Barella untouchable

According to a recent report from Sportmediaset, Inter have no intention of selling Barella this summer and consider him to be untransferable.

Taking into account how the 26-year-old played more minutes in Serie A last season than any other Inter player, this highlights how important he is for the team and why they wouldn’t want to lose him, especially to a side that stopped them from winning the Champions League last month.

In addition to that, the Italy international ended the previous campaign with more passes into the penalty area (50) than any other Inter player, as well as making more carries into the final third of the pitch (69) than any of his teammates.

This shows how much of an attacking influence he has in the team and why they wouldn’t want to see the midfielder, who has been hailed by journalist Sam Tighe for a “sensastional” goal he scored back in January 2021, leave the club this summer.

Moving forward, should Silva end up waving goodbye to the Etihad Stadium during the current summer transfer window, we feel that despite this latest report, City should at least test the water to see what it would take to see Inter relax their stance on Barella and potentially sell him.
