Bayern Munich have held in-house discussions over making a potential transfer move to sign Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the German club are considering making an offer to sign the striker on a one-year loan deal if their move for Harry Kane falls through.
However, it was then claimed by Fabrizio Romano that there will be no chance that the Argentine will be leaving the Manchester club on loan this summer.
Despite that, some fresh behind-the-scenes details have emerged concerning the Bundesliga side’s attentiveness to the attacker.
Bayern have secret tactic for potential Alvarez move

Written in his Substack column for Caught Offside, journalist Christian Falk had this to say Bayern’s interest in Alvarez and their plan to potentially make a move for him this summer.
“It was discussed on Tuesday, they had a meeting with the board and one of the names they thought about was Julian Alvarez from Manchester City again.
“They’re not sure if they can get him, but perhaps they think, similarly to [Kalvin] Phillips, when the training camp is running Alvarez might think he has no chance of getting in ahead of Erling Haaland.”
After agreeing a £14m deal with the Citizens back in the 2022 January transfer window, the 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive debut season in England where he won the treble and scored 17 goals in 49 appearances.

In fact, the Manchester club were so pleased with Alvarez’s first few months with them that they offered him an improved contract, which he eventually signed to keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2028.
This, and the fact that City apparently laughed off Bayern’s attempts to sign the striker this summer shows how adamant they are to keep hold of him.
With that in mind, regardless of how the player feels later on in pre-season about his place in the squad, it seems like a pointless task for the German club, or anyone else, to try and take him away from the European champions this summer.
