Ally McCoist has said that Manchester City No.1 Ederson Moraes may be the best ball-playing goalkeeper in the history of the game.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the pundit has given his two cents on the £35 million (ESPN) man.

It is clear to see that Ally McCoist holds Ederson Moraes in the highest possible regard as a passing goalkeeper.

Ally McCoist says Ederson is the greatest ball-playing goalkeeper of all time

In fact, Paul Lake has said that the Brazilian international is the greatest goalkeeper in possession that the game has ever seen.

The 30-year-old is certainly widely regarded as the best in the world in this respect by both fans and pundits alike.

Now, Ally McCoist has made the case that Ederson could well be the greatest goalkeeper on the ball that the game has ever seen.

“By a mile”, McCoist said.

“He’s probably the only goalkeeper I think who looks as though he could play outfield in a manner where he’s comfortable on the ball, takes the ball either side, passes the ball, good perception of where people are, things like that.”

“He’s probably the best I’ve seen, maybe ever!”

Ederson is most certainly the best that the game has ever seen

Ally McCoist is spot on as the variety of passes that Ederson has in his locker are second to none.

So much so that many believe that the five-time Premier League winner could genuinely play as an outfield player.

Ederson’s ability to set Manchester City’s attacks in terms of how he breaks the lines are on another level to the rest.

Of course, other names like Manuel Neuer, Victor Valdes, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Alisson Becker also merit a mention in this conversation.

However, none of the aforementioned goalkeepers are in the same tier as Ederson on the ball.
