Everton have reportedly set their sights on landing a transfer deal for one particular Manchester City player this summer.

Recent transfer windows have seen numerous players leave the Manchester club on loan deals and permanent moves.

Now that the next summer transfer window is around the corner, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding one Premier League club and one City player they have on their radar.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Everton are looking into a possible loan deal for Kalvin Phillips this summer after being in the frame to sign him back in January before he made his move to West Ham United.

The Citizens would apparently prefer to get rid of the Englishman on a permanent basis, although Everton’s “financial limitations and ongoing takeover mean they are unsure what budget they will have available.”

It’s also been claimed that Leeds United’s chances of bringing the midfielder back to Elland Road this summer have decreased as a result of their defeat to Southampton in the recent Championship play-off final.

Phillips could get a fresh start at Everton

City signed the midfielder back in the 2022 summer transfer window from Leeds in a deal worth £45m.

After making just 31 appearances for the Blues and failing to make a mark in Pep Guardiola’s side, the 28-year-old was loaned out to West Ham back in January.

Unfortunately for Phillips, he started just three of the 10 appearances he made for the Hammers, during which he also found himself getting sent off against Nottingham Forest, giving a penalty away against Newcastle United and making a mistake that led to Bournemouth scoring a goal in his first appearance for West Ham.

In our view, even if it is just another loan deal, if the Englishman can stay fit and earn himself a regular starting position at Everton, this could be a fresh start for him to get his career back on track.
